Graduation day

Dear blog,

So school was fine today, I had two free peiods again, with a study hall in between so I asked the lady if I could do it in my first free period so I could have two free periods after another and the woman was totally unreasonable! I mean, what a drag! I'm always polite and I always say hi, so why not just do me that small favour? This seriously pisses me off. Anyhoo, I had the chance to read more from 'Safe haven' which I absolutley LOVE! (I'm at page 82 now) And after school, there was a small award ceremony (which refers to the title of this post).

So the past couple of years I have been doing a few extra english courses. I started off with 'Anglia' which is basically a small course for children to learn to speak english. I of course (not to be arrogant but I prize myself for my english) passed with a Distinction mark. That was all fun but actually it's what some may call child's play (Actually I think I'm the only one who refered to it that way at the time, for I was one of the few who had ever had english lessons before middle school) After that, in the fourth year, you can sign up for a Camebridge english class. AHA! Now this is where it was beginning to get interesting.
Camebridge english is basically an advanced english class for students who are good at it, or native speaking (which is actually me... sort of) So the fourth year was a piece of cake and the fifth year aswell. We skipped the FCE exams and aimed straight for the CEA exames (Certificate of advanced english, certified by the university of Camebridge) Which I passed with an A level (80% or up) which was fantastic!
So today we had a little ceremony where the teachers handed out the diplomas and the principal gave us a little usb-stick with on one side the union jack, and on the other (of course) our school logo (Academic patriotisme of some sorts) There were also scones, which could be eaten with jam, clotted cream, marmalade etc. etc. I admit they were nice... Indeed they were.
People often don't think about it but it's actually really fun getting recognition for something you've done, even if it was easy or boring or stupid or whatever. I was actually pretty happy and proud of myself, even thought I thought the exams were very doable. So naturally I gave myself an invisible pat on the back. The best part is, I'm now studying for my CPE (certificate of proficiency english, certified by the university of Camebridge) The fun thing is, it's just me, my firend Sibbelien and the teacher so we have minimum homework, maximum fun! I know, I know. But Thom? How could you even enjoy studying a language? Well people, I just do. I love speaking english, in fact, I was able to read and write english before I could do so in dutch, so that stands for something... right?

Anyway, today was sort of fun, but the day isn't over yet. I still have lot's of homework to finish (Like a paper on dutch literature... yuck!) and so forth and so forth. I think I'll take a bath with one of my lush products after dinner. I can't wait! (And I also can't wait to continue reading Safe haven, it's THAT GOOD!)

For now, Adios, my loyal readers!
